“Repairer of Souls” Pastel on Suede, Carolyn Robles

Nos Sumus in hoc Unum, Carolyn Robles is a Tucson-based portrait and figurative painter whose work astonishes with subtle meanings and compassionate understanding of the subject of her work.  Carolyn’s work can be found in collections all over the United States, as well as Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Senegal, Japan, Australia, and Canada. She is a grand prize winner of the Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100 and featured in Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today’s Top Artists. She also teaches at The Drawing Studio.

My work aims to show the beauty and depth of our selves, as well as that of animals and nature. As the consequences of our choices become more clear in this incredible yet finite life, I hope to use my art to honor the unique beings with whom we share this universal human experience and pay homage to the extraordinary creatures of the earth. My works are my prayers that seek to remind us of what is most precious and that we are in this together (nos sumus in hoc unum). – Carolyn Robles
