“From Sea to Sand”

Paintings by Howard Kline

January 6 – February 19, 2023

This show is the story of an artist’s journey: Howard’s migration from the ocean of New England to the desert of Arizona, the evolution of his work, his longevity as an artist, and his philosophy about the art of doing something well.  After graduation in 1977 from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts Howard started to paint abstractly and then abandoned the style for more representational images. For thirty years he was known for his images of the sea including paintings of the New England fishermen on the working waterfront.  In 2000 his migration west to California and then to Arizona in 2013 has expanded his palette and subject matter to include more figurative works and abstracts. Howard says, “After 45 years owning my own retail art galleries from New England to Arizona I wanted to spend more time in my studio without distraction so I packed up my life and my wares and moved to sunny Tucson where there are 350 days of glorious sunshine, friendly people, and a vibrant art scene.   Howard’s work can be seen and purchased at his studio in Tucson, at howardkline.com  and at Tubac Center of the Arts.   He also welcomes wholesale inquiries about his work for originals and prints by galleries, home décor shops and designers.

Please join Howard on Friday January 6, 2023 for the opening reception from 5- 7 PM at The Tubac Center for the Arts for a lively and inspiring conversation with the artist.
