SDA Southwest Regional Exhibition at Tubac Center of the Arts is juried exhibition of artwork by submitted by current SDA members in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Southern California, Texas, and Utah. The juror, Annie Lopez, has been an active member of the Phoenix, Arizona art scene since 1982, She has consistently created new bodies of narrative work that presents a dialogue about racism, stereotypes, the local art world, personal relationships and family. She is most known for her use of cyanotype, an archival photographic printing process.

Surface Design Association’s mission since 1977 is to promote awareness and appreciation of textile-inspired art and design through member-supported benefits including publications, exhibitions, and conferences. SDA provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, methods, and materials. The SDA community is expansive: from makers and artists to academics and enthusiasts. We celebrate their successes and failures as they work toward sustaining traditional techniques or adapting production strategies in radical new ways, such as realizing fiber arts as activism or performance.
