Join us on Friday, August 11th, 5-7pm for the opening of a new season of exhibitions. The Members’ Open Exhibit in the main galleries includes 75 TCA member artists.
The new season always begins with the Members’ Open Exhibit, a non-juried art exhibition showcasing the varied artwork of TCA member artists. Awards selected by Kim Roseman, owner of K Newby Gallery will be presented during the opening reception by Debbie Barrios, TCA board president and gallery co-owner at Turquoise Tortoise Gallery in Tubac.

TCA member artist, Jimmy Descant of Tucson will build a sculpture in a live assemblage performance during the reception beginning at 5:15pm. Jimmy Descant is known among artists as a severe re-constructivist who works in a style he calls ‘Western Futurism.” Jimmy was recently interviewed on AZ Public Media. In the Master Gallery, a fiber art exhibit of works by the 4 Common Corners Artist Group “Extremes in the Southwest.” Participating artists include:
Shannon Conley, Vicky Connelly, Nicole Dunn, Diana Fox, Debra Goley, Betty Hann, Bev Haring, Sandra Hoefner, Michelle Jackson, Anne Moats, Francis Murphy, Lynn Welsch, & Rosanna Lynne Welter.

The Studio gallery is invaded by light-emitting objects created by local artists from beyond the pale in the “ILLUMINARIATIONS” exhibit, curated and presented by teeemart.

The art center is also celebrating the 75^th anniversary of the founding of the Tubac School of Art in 1948 by famed artist, Dale Nichols helping to establish Tubac as an artist colony.
