Tubac Center of the Arts Enhances Art Speaks Program with AZ Humanities Grant

July 6, 2020, Tubac, AZ. Tubac Center of the Arts, (TCA) has been awarded an Arizona Humanities CARES grant to enhance the Art Speaks program and to address COVID-19 safety recommendations. The Art Speaks program presents monthly speakers from October through March which often include docents from the Tucson Museum of Art. The presentations on a variety of topics such as art history, architecture, contemporary art, etc. bring an average of 40 people and up to 90 in attendance. In order to address physical distancing, the center is moving the location of the presentations to the largest gallery space and modifying the equipment and technology to fit the new space.

Additionally, TCA is addressing the need to reach stay at home audiences and remote presenters by adding new technology including ZOOM webinars. The Art Speaks program will be able to expand into the digital arena providing art education to a larger audience.

Karin Topping, Executive Director said, “TCA is both grateful and excited to receive this funding which will enable us to expand the outreach for arts education programs.  This grant is especially needed at this time as it will allow us to invest in tools to provide learning opportunities for both in-person and online audiences.”

This program enhancement project is made possible by a grant from Arizona Humanities and National Endowment for the Humanities.
