Drawing is not just a beautiful activity, but also the foundation of most art forms. Learning the basic principles of drawing will help you improve more quickly—not only in drawing itself but also in painting. Hours: 10 AM – 3:30 PM

Sonsoles creció en una familia de artistas en Madrid, España. Desde temprana edad demostró una gran pasión por el arte y tenía un talento natural para el dibujo. Ha estado dibujando y pintando desde su infancia. Es una artista fascinada por el retrato de personas y animales, así como por la representación de la luz y los contrastes dramáticos, un tema común en gran parte de su obra. Ha sido instructora de arte por más de 16 años, impartiendo clases privadas y talleres en la Southern Arizona Artists Guild (Tucson, AZ), la Cactus Wren Art Gallery (Tubac, AZ) y el Community Performance and Arts Center (Green Valley, AZ), donde también exhibe su trabajo. Además, su obra ha sido expuesta en Ben’s Fine Art Gallery, la Mountain Artist Guild Gallery, el Phippen Art Museum en Prescott, AZ —donde ha participado en sus exposiciones anuales de arte del Oeste, con jurado— y en el Tubac Center of the Arts, AZ. Su formación artística incluye estudios en la Universidad de Maryland, el Montpelier Arts Center (Maryland) y la Scottsdale Artists School (Arizona). Ha estudiado con reconocidos instructores como Amery Bohling, Phil Beck, James Coulter, Robert Goldman, Ray Roberts, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, David Harlan, Cody DeLong, Barbara Mulleneaux y Chris Saper. Ha recibido premios de la Portrait Artists of Arizona, la exposición Best & Brightest de la Scottsdale Artists School, la Mountain Artist Guild y el Community Performance and Arts Center (Green Valley, AZ). Su obra ha sido seleccionada en dos ocasiones dentro del FAV15, es decir, el 15% de las obras favoritas del jurado en el concurso internacional de pintura BoldBrush, en septiembre y noviembre de 2024.
Sonsoles grew up within a family of artists in Madrid, Spain. From an early age she demonstrated a passion for art and she drew well. She has been drawing and painting since childhood. She is an artist fascinated with portraiture of people and animals, and the depiction of light and dramatic contrasts, which is a common theme in most of her work. She has been an art instructor for 16+ years, and teaches private classes and workshops at the Southern Arizona Artists Guild (Tucson, AZ), the Cactus Wren Art Gallery (Tubac AZ) and the Community Performance and Arts Center (Green Valley, AZ), where she also shows her work. In addition her art has been shown at Ben’s Fine Art Gallery, the Mountain Artist Guild Gallery, the Phippen Art Museum in Prescott, AZ, -and participated in their juried annual Western art shows-, and the Tubac Center of the Arts, AZ. Her art education includes classes at the University of Maryland, the Montpelier Arts Center (MD), and the Scottsdale Artists School (AZ). She studied with renowned instructors like Amery Bohling, Phil Beck, James Coulter, Robert Goldman, Ray Roberts, Peggi Kroll-Roberts, David Harlan, Cody DeLong, Barbara Mulleneaux and Chris Saper. She has received awards from the Portrait Artists of Arizona, the Best & Brightest show at the Scottsdale Artist School, the Mountain Artist Guild and the Community Performance and Arts Center (Green Valley, AZ). Her artwork has been selected twice as the FAV15 or jury’s favorite 15% of the entries in the September 2024 BoldBrush international painting competition.
