Clay Rabbit Pottery has been around for over 4 decades. It started in the Pacific Northwest and has continued here in Tubac. Clay Rabbit Pottery is made from high fired stoneware, and is the most durable type of pottery there is. Oven proof, dishwasher & microwave safe, weather and scratch resistant are just a few of the remarkable properties stoneware provides, along with its ever lasting beauty. Images of rural life throughout the United States are depicted on our utilitarian wares and then hand painted. Each piece is an original and keepsake for collectors worldwide. The Clay Rabbit House is a studio/gallery open to folks interested in experiencing the artists working and their finished creations. Clay Rabbit Pottery has been shown internationally and in museums through out the U.S.

Clay Rabbit Pottery is offering a hands-on, step-by-step introduction to hand-building with high-fire stoneware clays. Using simple tools and basic techniques, the student will experience and learn what the complete potter’s process entails. From working with raw clay, the student will create a shaped plate, prep it for Firing #1 (1900 degrees), mix and apply a ceramic glaze, paint a design on it with stains, and then send it to Firing #2 (2400 degrees).

A second piece, pre-glazed and ready to paint, will be provided for the student to paint, get fired, and take home. Please allow 2 to 3 days to fire and cool. You pick-up or we can discuss shipping. Dress casually, have fun and prepare to get a little dirty!
