Encaustic Painting – Sherrie Posternak

Artist and teacher Sherrie Posternak will introduce students to the fascinating unbounded medium of encaustic- painting with heated, pigmented beeswax medium. This ancient medium is experiencing a truly extraordinary revival, and after two full days of demonstrations and student experimentation, you will understand why. A full range of beginning and intermediate techniques will be taught: history and safety, studio set-up, substrates and grounds, surface techniques and fusing, recipes for encaustic medium and paint, more advanced texture and surface techniques, collage, mixed media, and 3-D applications.
Supplies provided by teacher: Use of all equipment, tools, and supplies. Supplies/materials provided for reimbursement by students listed below.
Kit/supplies fee: Encaustic medium, encaustic paint, brushes, cradled and uncradled wooden panels, encaustic ground, some collage materials, soy solvent, razor blades, beeswax, damar resin, pigments, Gamsol, lint-free cloths, masking tape, and stencil making materials, some mixed media materials. $50 per student payable to instructor.

WORKSHOP REFUND POLICY – A nonrefundable 20% deposit is required with all workshop registrations. Cancellations 6 weeks in advance of the workshop will receive an 80% refund. (Registration fee minus the 20% deposit.) There will be no refunds for any student cancellations less than 6 weeks prior to a workshop – students are responsible for the full payment. TCA will provide a full refund if Tubac Center of the Arts, for any reason, cancels a workshop.
Substitutions may be made for workshops that are full and have a waitlist. If unable to attend, contact the Workshop Coordinator about a substitute from the waitlist. No substitutions may be made without the permission of the Workshop Coordinator. No refunds for no-shows or withdrawals.
