Where Art & History Meet

Tubac is one of the oldest towns in Arizona, an 1800’s Spanish Presidio turned artist colony. Tubac offers a rich history as well as an artistic experience. Just a 45-minute drive south of Tucson, the blue skies and mountainous vistas surround this laid back community offering visitors a respite and retreat from the hustle of everyday life.

Tubac is a historic destination for the arts located in Southern Arizona about 40 miles south of Tucson and 17 miles north of Nogales off Interstate 19.

Nestled in the Santa Cruz River Valley between the Tumacacori, Santa Rita and San Cayetano Mountains, Tubac offers much to its visitors – recreation, lodging, restaurants, galleries, artists’ studios, the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, and the Tumacacori National Historical Monument.

Tubac features over 100 world class galleries and eclectic shops situated along our charming streets with hidden courtyards and flowing fountains.

The shops and galleries offer sculptures, ceramics, paintings, and photography, as well as unique crafts, jewelry, fashion, leather, and antique goods. Spending the day in Tubac is easy to do and promises to delight everyone!

Tubac is host to several locally owned restaurants and bars offering a vast array of choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. Check out our restaurant guide here: Tubac Dining Guide

We have many options for lodging. Tubac boasts some outstanding B & B’s, Casitas, and the luxurious Tubac Golf Resort and Spa!

In addition to the shops and galleries visitors will want to visit the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, located in Old Town, where outdoor displays and an excellent museum bring the rich history of Tubac to life. No visit to Tubac is complete without a stop at, Arizona’s First State Park.
