Ancient Barrier Canyon Style Rock Art of the Colorado Plateau
January 10, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Barrier Canyon Style rock art emerged about 4000 years ago in the red canyon country of the Colorado Plateau. Today it is widely regarded as the first and most powerful of the several ancient styles developed in the region. My presentation is an archaeological overview of the culture that evolved the Barrier Canyon Style of rock painting and the various views of who the artists were and what their paintings are about. Finally, we can discuss how we go about finding pictures to photograph and some of the methods used in creating the pictures on the wall.
While Art Speaks events are free for TCA Members, it is suggested that any guests/non-members donate $8 at the door.
