The Hudson River School: American Scenery, Its Beauty and Magnificence with Harry Hakanson:
We will discuss the search for American identity in art in the 19th century. In doing so, we will look at the influence of Romanticism and the Manifest Destiny on the Hudson River School landscapes. We will also discuss three themes in 19th century America: discovery, exploration, and settlement.
Lectures in this series are free for TCA members and an $8 donation is suggested for general public attendance.
