Plein Air Sketching with Rick Wheeler
March 29, 2019 @ 10:00 am - March 31, 2019 @ 4:00 pm
With mixed media in mind, enjoy this 3-day workshop drawing the beautiful landscapes and historic landmarks of the Sonoran Desert. Our mediums of choice will be pencil, water-soluble graphite, pen & ink wash, watercolor pencils, and a small palette of watercolors (optional). Each day will focus on points of interest in the Tubac area. March is an excellent time of year for this type of workshop. The class is open to beginning, intermediate, and advanced students.
Originally from California, Rick has lived in the Four Corners region of the desert southwest since 1994. He holds a B.A. degree in fine Art, with a minor in Integrative Studies from Prescott College, Arizona, as well as an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design. He has studied at the San Francisco Art Institute with a focus on drawing and painting and at the San Francisco Academy of Art University in illustration. Both “fine art” and commercial art” approaches proved valuable, and helped broaden his perspectives into the art world.
