Original Heintzelman scrip
In the 1850s, the Heintzelman Mining Company of Tubac created their own scrip for community use.And because Tubac is the place where art and history meet, the village is re-introducing the concept in 2015.
At all major community events, such as the Festival of the Arts, Spring Art Walk, and Bonanza days, contest drawings will be held to receive Bolero Dinero, the specialized currency for use in Tubac. Many shops, galleries (including ours), and eateries will be accepting Bolero Dinero.
Participating businesses will each determine the value of Bolero Dinero in their establishments. You can participate in the contest by either liking the Tubac Chamber of Commerce Facebook page or by signing in at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park or the Tubac Center of the Arts.
Prizes that will be awarded include: a 2015 commemorative Tubac Festival of the Arts poster, lunch for two at Elvira’s restaurant, golf for two at Tubac Golf Resort & Spa, and entrance for two at Tubac Presidio.
